Redemption of the Firstborn
God delivers Israel from death, redeeming them when the angel sees blood on the doors and passes over. They’ve just left Egypt but their redemption continues because every firstborn is the Lord’s. Just as the Lord would have His people remember and live out their faith by observing Passover year after year, so through the redemption of the firstborn they look to Christ “in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins”.
