Arise For Our Help
The individual suffering in Psalms 42 and 43 becomes a corporate reality in Psalm 44. The desolation here will be addressed by the coming of the King in Psalm 45. All of God’s people have been cast off, put to shame, scattered among the nations, and made a reproach among their neighbors (vv. 9, 12-13). What stands out here is the psalmist’s insistence that they are innocent: “Our heart has not turned back, nor have our steps departed from Your way” (v. 18).
