The psalms have enduring power because “God inhabits the praises of His people” (Ps. 22:3). So when we sing Psalm 46 in faith, God acts as our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Sometimes the faithful cry out to the Lord in desperation and fear, but other times we stand untroubled in the towers of God’s city while the nations rage.
