The scourge of abortion is unpleasant at best to talk about it, but we have to. The Bible speaks directly to the issue of abortion in the Sixth Commandment and in the Book of the Covenant. All people bear God’s image and therefore have the right to life. Only by degrading some people—concluding they are less worthy of life than others—can abortion be justified, as it is in our nation where over 2300 people are surgically aborted per day, more than 862,000 in 2017, more than 50,000,000 since Roe v. Wade in 1973. Jesus Christ honors human life, especially the weak and vulnerable. They are special opportunities to reveal the works of God, and so must be protected.
