Joseph has ten years of slavery and imprisonment behind him, and if there’s light at the end of the tunnel, he can’t see it. God brought Judah to repentance through humiliating sin. Now He works on Joseph in a very different way. Joseph prospers in a sense, but in a very confined space. He’s eager to help the king’s butler and baker, but it goes nowhere. Why? God is teaching Joseph patience, and it can’t be learned in any other way. How do we learn patience?
