God Will
Moses goes two steps forward, and now is three steps back. He and Aaron told Pharaoh to let Israel go. Rather than listen, he decides the Hebrew slaves will make the same number of bricks but without straw, and the Hebrew taskmasters are beaten when they fail. Not only is the bondage heavier, the Jews want God to judge Moses for trying to help. Moses cries out and asks God to do what He said He would. Yahweh’s response is gracious and sure: “I am Yahweh, and I will.”
