The reality of evil in our world is overwhelming. We hear and see it faster and more often than anyone ever has, but God made sure His people would always know and meditate on the destructive effects of sin. This passage is about the great sin against Dinah, but also about what sinners often do in response to sin—make it worse. The only one who can get us out of this mess is the God who didn’t quarantine Himself from it, but took on flesh to suffer, and became sin itself in His death on the cross to overcome evil.
