God doesn’t change and therefore what He requires doesn’t change. In the old covenant He wants mercy and not sacrifice (Hos. 6:6), and Jesus says, “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance” (Matt. 9:13). Psalm 50 calls everyone, the religious and the rebellious, to glorify Him and see His salvation.
