We’re almost in a new year, A.D. 2015. You would think this is an odd time to read from the Hebrew phone book. It would be, but this chapter is much more than that. It’s a record of God’s sustaining grace in a dark time. We can look at 2014 and see all kinds of things wrong with our lives and our world and wonder where God is. That’s exactly where Moses has brought us. Lamech just multiplied violence and revenge. There’s a sliver of hope with the birth of Seth and Enosh, but here God shows us how he works, continuing his grace from generation to generation.
