Adam was not up to the task of subduing and filling the earth himself, and so the Lord gave him a suitable helper, a woman with different but equally important gifts and talents who would conquer the world with him. Understanding a husband’s duties in marriage takes nothing away, and in fact establishes, a wife’s. He needs her. The promise of the gospel is that her seed will crush the head of the serpent. The role and duties of a wife are high and noble, honored by God in His word.
