Words have power. God brings us to Himself through the word of truth (cf. Jms. 1:18). The words we listen to and the words we speak shape us and those around us. James calls the scattered church to persevere under trials and mature into people who speak the truth in love. This passage warns teachers and those who aspire to teach but it applies to everyone who speaks in Christ’s kingdom.
