God loves and calls us to meet with him in a special way on this day of rest and celebration. And when we meet with him he wants to hear from us. We are used to thinking of prayer in terms of our individual conversation with God, but prayer plays a critical role in our worship together and therefore in the progress of the gospel in the world. In this letter Paul tells Timothy how to be a pastor in Ephesus—what he should do and what the church should do. In chapter one he says stay, and in chapter two first of all, pray.
