Joy in Christ Alone

Passage: Philippians 3:1-6

God spoke this world into existence and shaped it over six days, dividing, filling, naming, evaluating, and enjoying it as “very good” (Gen. 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 31). Mankind made in His image would imitate this, making, building, and achieving all kinds of technological and aesthetic wonders in love and glory to his creator. Adam’s rebellion alienated him from God such that he would find joy not in honoring the triune God, but by puffing himself up and looking down at his neighbor. The gospel destroys our pride and thus reconciles us to God so that we can rejoice in Christ alone.
