Greatness Toward Us

Preacher:
Passage: Ephesians 1:15-23

As we enter into another year of our Lord, 2014, the evangelical church in the United States is in a different position than it has ever been. We are increasingly marginalized, and yet our strength remains. We are like a malnourished man with all the real food he needs in the refrigerator who insists on the inspiring rice cakes in the pantry. But we don’t want to overstate the difficulty of our circumstances, especially because it seems we can’t overstate our strength in Christ. There are signs that the church is reforming, and we want to open the fridge and be nourished, taking our next steps by faith. We want to think globally so we can act locally, to be like the men of Issachar who understood the times and knew what Israel should do (1 Chron. 12:32).
