Ahasuerus is a king among kings. He convenes the nobles and princes from his vast empire to feast and drink for six months, gaining consensus for war on Greece. He can rule 127 provinces, but he can’t rule…his wife. This section reads a little like The Enquirer—“Marital Spat Between X & V Goes Nuclear!—except that it’s true, showing the pettiness of the Persian powerful and the end of a royal marriage. No one knew that this was the beginning of deliverance.
