God made Adam and Eve to live together in helpful companionship, to be fruitful and multiply, and to glorify and enjoy Him in the wonderful covenant of marriage. Our salvation comes to us through the marriage, the relationship of Christ and the church. In our marriages we have the privilege of picturing this ultimate marriage, and we do it well when husbands and wives fulfill their particular responsibilities. When they do, marriage sings, and when they don’t, it clanks. Don’t forget what we learned earlier, that while each spouse is individually responsible for themselves, the husband is responsible for the marriage.
