Passage: Genesis 44

Bible Text: Genesis 44 | Preacher: Jerry Owen | Series: The Book of Beginnings

The conflict between Joseph and his brothers comes to a head, and their hearts are revealed. Judah became a new man, taking responsibility for Benjamin’s life in order to get his father’s blessing to go to Egypt. He does what new men do: sacrifice his life. He sold Joseph for twenty pieces of silver, and now he offers himself as payment for Benjamin’s “theft” of the silver cup. Everything in the Old Testaments points to the gospel—the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus for us. But this story is a neon sign on a desolate road in the middle of the night.
