Bible Text: Genesis 31 | Preacher: Jerry Owen | Series: The Book of Beginnings
Twenty years have passed since Jacob first met Laban. He starts off prayerless, gets into a huge mess, but doesn’t let these circumstances keep him from working hard and trusting God in long run. As a result, he sees what God has done for him in the past and is calling him to do in the present. Laban doesn’t trust God and therefore has the opposite perspective. John Flavel said, “Some providences, like Hebrew letters, must be read backwards.” The way God tells the story we often need to see the end in order to understand the beginning. In the meantime, we can trust Him.
