Hope for the Nations
Bible Text: Genesis 10 | Preacher: Jerry Owen | Series: The Book of Beginnings
The first genealogy in Genesis is in chapter 5, covering 1600 years of history. The next four chapters tell the story of Noah and the flood. Here in chapter 10 the genealogy picks up again with Noah’s sons and their descendants, leading up to the Tower of Babel. Why do chapters like this make it into the Bible? Or a better question for us as individualistic Americans, why do we find it so difficult to understand these chapters? This is not an ancient cure for insomnia. The Table of Nations reveals God’s sovereignty over and love for the nations of the earth. This is not just a statement of fact, but a declaration of God’s intention, and one that is still in effect.
