From Sovereign to Slave

Preacher:
Passage: Genesis 37

Genesis covers thousands of years, but now zooms in on the life of Joseph. God doesn’t show up visibly or verbally, but His hand of providence is masterfully at work. We can summarize what we believe: “God’s works of providence is His most holy, wise, and powerful preserving and governing all His creatures, and all their actions”. But the Bible irreducibly reveals God’s goodness and sovereignty in the narrative of Joseph’s life so that by the end of it we can say with him, “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive”. In this chapter Joseph falls from a great height, and we can begin to see why.
